Another All-Ireland winner calls it a day in the Banner

Darach Honan has become the latest member of Clare’s 2013 All-Ireland winning team to announce his retirement.

He follows teammates Brendan Bugler, Colin Ryan and Patrick Donnelan is stepping away from the game in resent weeks.

The 27 year old  Clonlara man first made his name with the counties Under 21 side in 2009. Clare made history by winning the Munster title in that grade for the very first time. Honan’s side later played in the All-Ireland final against Kilkenny, claiming a narrow 0-15 to 0-14 victory . Honan was later named the inaugural Bord Gáis Energy Breakthrough Player of the Year.

He joined the senior panel the following year,  making hischampionship debut in a Munster semi-final clash against Waterford in 2010. I

Honan came on as a sub against Cork and scored Clare’s fifth goal in the 2013 All-Ireland Hurling final replay played at Croke Park as Clare won their fourth All Ireland senior title.
