Former Cavan star David Givney has transferred back to his native club Mountnugent.
Givney last featured for Cavan in 2016 when he shone at full-forward for the Breffni men in their promotion to Division 1 of the National League before losing out to Tyrone in the semi-final of the Ulster SFC (after a replay).
The 31-year-old has spent the past few seasons lining-out with Fulham Irish in London but is now set to provide Mountnugent with a huge boost as they get set to embark on the junior championship the weekend after next.
His transfer back to the Meath border club is understood to have been ratified last week and signed off by Croke Park and could potentially open the door for a return to the Cavan set-up, as Mickey Graham’s side prepare for another Ulster SFC opener against Monaghan on the weekend of October 31-November 1.
